Kerne Bridge Canoe Launch Site: Planning information.
In order to improve safety when large numbers of canoes are being delivered to and collected from Kerne Bridge Canoe Launch Site, Walford PC created a new one-way gyratory system within the curtilage of the site. In November 2017, Walford Parish Council received a letter from Herefordshire Council Planning Enforcement Officer Scott Low, regarding the creation of an ‘unauthorised access onto a classified road’ (B4234). A meeting took place on 8th December, after which a letter was received from Mr Low, confirming that the works carried out constitute ‘permitted development’ under Schedule 2, Part 12, Class A of the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015 and therefore no formal planning application is required: Click on the link below

In addition, a non-permanent structure in the form of a wooden field shelter was introduced at the Canoe Launch site (for which initial advice was that planning permission would not be required) to operate as a cafe/refreshment point - an undertaking encouraged by Herefordshire Council whilst discussions were taking place with Walford PC about future plans for the site. However, Herefordshire Council subsequently asked for a retrospective planning application to be submitted; this has been done and the usual planning process is being followed, after which Herefordshire Council will make a decision based on the application submitted and consultation with appropriate bodies. The PC will abide by whatever final decision is made.
